Molluscum contagiosum occurs when there is a viral infection of the skin.  It is common in children.  It is commonly spread in swimming pools, gymnasiums.  In adults, molluscum is spread in tattoo parlors, sexually, and from a skin to skin contact.  There are multiple types of virus that cause molluscum.

The disease usually presents with flesh colore, dome-shaped and pearly lesions.

MCV-1 is the most prevalent form.  MCV-2 is spread sexually.  However, the virus can spread with skin to skin contact.  Towels and objects that have touched virus infected skin can also cause the virus to spread.

There are numerous treatments available for molluscum.  It is best to consult with your dermatologist for more information.
